How Kenya's Forests Have Been Managed Since the Pre-Colonial Era


The conservation of forests in Kenya dates back to the pre-colonial period where the use and management of forest resources and products was controlled through traditional rules. Thereafter, forest conservation and management was governed by colonialists and later on by the Government of Kenya, with the latter being inextricably linked to patronage politics , especially during the late 1980s to early 2000.
